Tomorrow is a big day for the MLB. For the first time, there will be NL and AL wildcard playoff games to discern who the wildcard team is from each perspective division. From the NL we have the St. Louis Cardinals traveling to Atlanta to face the Braves on their home turf at Turner Field. STL will send Kyle Lohse to the mound to face off against Kris Medlen. On the AL side we have the Baltimore Orioles traveling to Arlington to combat the offense power-house Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark. Texas will be sending Japan sensation Yu Darvish to the mound to duel Joe Saunders. The surprising Oakland Athletics took the AL by storm with an extremely impressive run after the All-Star game granting them the title of the AL west after finishing with a dominant 94-68 record.
After the wildcard playoff games, the winner of the NL contest will move on to play the Washington Nationals and the winner of the AL wildcard playoff game will go on to play the Bronx Bombers. That leaves Oakland playing Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Lions, and the Cincinnati Reds playing the San Francisco Giants.
Needless to say, the new wildcard playoff games will add a lot of drama, intensity, and cut-throat baseball to the 2012 postseason. Stay tuned for an exciting and thrilling October as we kick off the fall season with great playoff match ups.
